FIONA ON THE WAY

I was woken this morning at 5:45 by a sheet of water falling on the roof. That lasted 10 minutes. Then at 7:20 the power went off, followed at 7:22 by windy rain. Unpleasantly windy, but not the big blow yet.

Nearly 8:00 am, power cutting in and out, and dismal grey. Some rain, but patchy. Some wind but not strong.

This feels like the edge of the big spread that is called Fiona. So likely no more sun till it's over.

We have generator working, fuel for several days, drinking water for a couple of weeks, and so far so good.

Condos Dominicanos is actually on the top of a "hill". Water runs away from here in all directions. And below a couple of inches of topsoil we have caliche - a soft limestone, used for paving roads - which is like a sponge. So we are very fortunate.

Next photo will be the pool. We drained about 6 inches of water on Saturday - going to see how much it has filled up in the heavy showers since then.
